description
===========

vmr is a program which allows you to easily verify your MAME rom sets.
vmr runs under DOS or Win9X. Full source is included. vmr should
work on all versions of MAME which have the command line audit functions.
It works on both zipped and unzipped rom sets.

usage
=====

Copy vmr.exe to your MAME directory and issue the command:

vmr "name of your MAME executable"

i.e.

vmr mameppro

vmr will then analyse your roms and if any problems are found
present you with a file containing a list of anomalies.

If you want your output to go to another file than the
default, use the '-o' option.

i.e.

vmr mameppro.exe -o badlist.txt

Will present the output in "badlist.txt"

compiling
=========

Compile in large model under real mode DOS :)

To compile under gcc use:

gcc -o vmr.exe vmr.c arg_func.c

compatibility
=============

vmr uses the audit output that MAME generates for it's analysis. If the
audit code in MAME is changed vmr will have to be updated. vmr has been
tested on MAME 036b14, b15, b16.

notes
=====

. vmr does not fix your roms it just verifies the ones you've got.
. Do not email me asking for roms or where they may be found.
  All such requests will be silently ignored.
